We have 10 magnetometers for schools to use in their science teaching. A competition has been launched to select the schools which will host the magnetometers.
The aurora borealis (or northern lights) is a spectacular natural phenomenon which can occasionally be seen in the night sky over Britain. Once seen, it is never forgotten. AuroraWatch UK allows you to monitor geomagnetic activity in real time, and will let you know when aurora may be visible from the UK.
We offer free alerts to notify you whenever aurora is likely to be seen from the UK. These alerts can be forwarded to your phone as a text message, so you will know when to look out for aurora wherever you are.
